With spring in full bloom and with the colour burst all around us could not help but writing an article about Pastel Shades. Pastel shades, also referred to as ‘Chalky Colours’ (since it has the matte feel of the coloured chalk) are so much in vogue and most rightly so! They are essentially known as the ‘spring colours’ in the world of fashion; however they can be worn during any time of the year, if you style it right. In fact they can be beautifully utilized the break the mundane vibes of the grays and the browns – the dominant colour palette of winter fashion.

Pastel shades are unique because though they are bright, they render a soft feel to the eyes. the perks of pastel includes the flexibility of wearing it at any age, on any skin tone and in any setting, if one knows how to carry it off. However, the dominant trend is wearing pastel shades western attires. What about trying pastel for traditional outfits? Ever thought of it? Straighten your worry lines on that beautiful forehead, for here is a three-step guide of wearing pastel traditional outfits: –

1) Nonchalant Neutral– Pastel and neural shade is a marriage made in heaven. The bright peppy pastel, romances beautifully with neutral shades of the fashion colour palette (namely gray, khaki, tan, black, white, brown, ivory, navy blue, etc). To make a statement, wear a kurti in pastel shade and team it up with neutral shades like beige, tan, khaki etc. (though white and black are safe neutral shades, they might fail to make a statement, so chose the stated neutral colours instead) .

2) Sombre Saturation– Pastel shades are bright and peppy. One can always pair up traditional pastel apparel with grounded saturated tones. For instance, one can wear chalky pink with a sombre dark blue. One can also create a monochrome scheme, for instance- pastel blue with a darker shade of blue.

3) Pastel Square– Create a double affair with pastel, you wouldn’t regret it. Pastel shades go great with other pastel shades. So, for instance if you are choosing your kurta in a pastel, try another complimenting pastel for your pajama/palazzo/man-pants etc. However, the trick is to choose the right two shades of pastel. (Tips – colours lying closely in the color spectrum go well with each other, for instance red and pink, blue and green etc.)
